Finland Start Service helps recruit foreign workers for companies in Finland. A friendly reception increases the employee and his or her family's enjoyment of the new home country. We give support in practical matters like choosing accommodation and a language course, as well as helping with integration into Finnish society. The company's staff can concentrate on taking care of business and familiarising the foreign employee with his work. The smoother the settling in, the better the employee will enjoy working for the company.

The content and duration of the service is tailored according to the customer's needs, beginning with:

A) PREPARATIONS IN ADVANCE BEFORE COMING TO FINLAND

• mapping out the needs of the person/family and estimating the services needed in co-operation with the employer/employee/family
• drawing up an agreement with the employer on the content, quantity and cost of the service
• finding hotel accommodation if needed
• planning the programme for the first two weeks

B) RECEPTION

• meeting the employee/family at the airport or other agreed upon place
• accompanying them to their accommodation
• agreeing on the intensive programme of the first two weeks
• accompanying the new employee to the place of employment on the first work day.

C) SERVICE ORIENTATION

• Informing them about the services agreed upon, getting to know them in practise and networking. The service orientation lasts about 3 months.

Registration and contacts with the authorities

After you have moved to Finland, you need a Finnish personal identity number, in addition to the residency permit, so you can, for example, open a bank account or get a tax card. In addition you must ascertain if you and your family are entitled to social security benefits from Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland) as well as to a Kela card. We help with different official formalities and in filling out forms for example.

Residence location, accommodation and appropriate contracts

Newcomers will have different needs regarding accommodation and its location. We will help you find a satisfactory residence and, for example, take care of drawing up the rent and electricity contracts

Hobbies, culture and leisure time activities

We will introduce you and your family to hobbies and interests suitable for you. We will also tell you about such leisure time opportunities that are part of Finnish culture and with which you may not yet be familiar. We will also inform you of other customs and habits connected to Finnish culture.

Spouse's work or studies

If needed we can help your spouse look for work or tell about different places where he or she can study. If needed we can make a separate contract for work training and give personal support to your spouse in finding a job.

Studying Finnish

We know about different opportunities to study Finnish and will help you and your family members find a suitable language course, group or teacher.

 

Schools, daycare and childcare help

We will help families find a suitable school or daycare centre for their needs and the children's needs. In addition, we can get temporary childcare help for the family.

Health care, medical care services, first aid and chemist's services

We will guide you in the use of public health care services and if needed find private services for you.

Public transport and taking care of everyday business

We will guide you and your family in using the public transport and, for example, in buying tickets. We will show you the best shopping places and other services. We will help you get a telephone connection and a library card. We will also tell about the way Finns do things.

You can reach us by phone from morning to evening and we will help you solve any problems that may arise, both large and small.
